Q: What is Microsoft 365 Copilot Cowork?

Microsoft 365 Copilot Cowork is an AI-powered, agentic system within Microsoft 365. Unlike traditional AI assistants, Cowork does not just answer questions; it can plan, coordinate, and manage tasks through to the final result. The user simply describes the desired goal, while Copilot Cowork organizes and executes the necessary steps.

Q: What distinguishes Copilot Cowork from the standard Microsoft 365 Copilot?

The classic Microsoft 365 Copilot assists employees with individual tasks such as writing emails, creating documents, or summarizing meetings. Copilot Cowork goes significantly further: It processes complex, multi-stage tasks across various Microsoft 365 applications, supporting them from assignment to completion. Microsoft describes this as the transition from "delivering answers" to "getting work done."

Q: How does Work IQ work?

Work IQ is the intelligence layer behind Copilot Cowork. It uses information from documents, emails, chats, meetings, and other Microsoft 365 data sources to identify relationships and handle tasks in the right context. This produces significantly more relevant results than a general AI without organizational context.

Q: What does Microsoft 365 Copilot Cowork cost?

This is currently the question most customers are asking us. Microsoft has introduced Copilot Cowork as a standalone feature within the Microsoft 365 Copilot platform. According to information published by Microsoft, Copilot Cowork is described as part of the Microsoft 365 Copilot strategy. The specific licensing terms and possible consumption models may change depending on Microsoft announcements and the respective licensing program. Our recommendation Since Microsoft is currently developing its Copilot products at a very fast pace, companies should have their current licensing situation reviewed individually. As part of a Copilot consultation, we analyze: - Existing Microsoft licenses - Planned AI use cases - User groups - Security and compliance requirements - ROI and savings potential This ensures that you only acquire the licenses that actually deliver added value. Tip: Many companies initially purchase Copilot licenses without defining specific use cases. Our project experience shows that the greatest value only emerges from combining technology, governance, training, and clear deployment scenarios.

Typical use cases include: - Create project plans - Generate status reports - Support implementation and onboarding processes - Optimize calendars - Consolidate information from various sources, e.g., from your ERP system - Coordinate and track tasks - Structure research and prepare results The user remains in control at all times and can review and approve suggested actions.
