Anyone looking for an inexpensive and quick method of creating practical instructions often comes up with the idea of making a recording. When it comes to long instructions, such as how to use or set up a program, screen recordings are practical. They are generally easier to follow than written instructions. And if the user only needs a small part of the instructions, it is also easier to fast-forward a video than to skim through a complicated text, à la “First top right, then bottom left and then top, center, then a little more to the right and in the menu the 3rd item. Even if such instructions are equipped with images, they are difficult to understand and require a great deal of effort to create.

Thanks to Microsoft Streams, creating such a recording is child’s play.

To set a good example, we won’t be writing any instructions this time, although they would have been very short and simple. We will show this directly in the program, in our demo environment:

It should also be noted that it is possible to add camera and sound. We’ll also show you how, but we thought we’d spare you our image and voice and put a more appealing soundtrack underneath instead 😉

The whole thing is then saved in Microsoft Stream and can be published or shared. Since Microsoft Stream is included in most Microsoft 365 packages, this is a gadget that is just waiting to be used!
