Digital security is often not a problem in the company. There, everything is handled by “IT”, the firewalls are strong enough and so on. But now that many people are working from home, new digital security issues can arise. In addition, some people still have to use their private devices. But what can you do to protect yourself when working from home? How can you strengthen your digital security when working from home and what programs are available for your security?

We would like to present some of them to you here:

Microsoft Compliance Manager

What is the Microsoft Compliance Manager? This is a Microsoft feature that makes it easier for you to manage your organization’s compliance requirements. It can help you take stock of your data protection risks to stay up to date with regulations. It can also give you a comprehensive final report.

The Compliance Manager Dashboard shows your current compliance rating. It helps you to see what needs more attention and guides you towards important improvements.

Microsoft 365 Defender

Microsoft 365 Defender uses artificial intelligence to reduce the workload of the SOC. The integrated “self-healing technology” automates the resolution of problems in more than 70% of cases. This ensures that the Defender can focus on other tasks. This in turn allows you to make better use of your knowledge and expertise.

Azure Defender

Azure Defender adds threat detection and advanced defense for Windows and Linux. This ensures that your computer is optimally protected and monitored. The Security Center not only displays warnings, but also suggests suitable remedies. Azure Defender offers many features such as:

Integrated license for Microsoft Defender for Endpoint (Windows only)Azure Defender for Server includes Microsoft Defender for Endpoint. If Defender for Endpoint detects a threat, it triggers an alert. The warning is displayed in the Security Center. In the Security Center, you can also switch to the Defender for Endpoint console and perform a detailed investigation to uncover the scope of the attack.

Vulnerability assessment scan for VMs – The vulnerability scanner included in the Azure Security Center is supported by Qualys. The Qualys scanner is one of the leading tools for real-time detection of vulnerabilities in your Azure virtual machines. You don’t need a Qualys license or even a Qualys account – everything is handled seamlessly in the Security Center.

Security awareness – the responsibility of the individual

However, technology and software alone will not be sufficient as a protective measure. In order to sensitize employees to the additional potential dangers in the home office, regular security awareness training should become an integral part of employee training. Each individual must be aware of and understand the dangers of working on data or possibly sensitive documents at home or on the move. The mixing of private and business activities (e.g. emails) on company-owned devices, social engineering and other security topics should be discussed using tangible practical examples.
